Wadaag Commons is the final piece of the larger Seward Commons project. Wadaag Commons will be a 39-unit housing development that will create the affordable three- and four-bedroom units that we know are in high demand for families in our community.
Wadaag Commons is a co-development project between Redesign and Noor Companies, a Somali-American, woman-owned social enterprise.
A Little Background
Seward Commons has been in development, property-by-property, since 2009. It is a perfect example of the importance of community-engaged foresight and planning. Seward Commons was developed to center transit and walkable communities while providing residential and commercial properties at a variety of price points to encourage a mixed-income community.
Seward Commons includes intentional and sustained economic development, environmental cleanup and remediation, and public art and placemaking strategies. Wadaag Commons will join other residential buildings on the site including The Cooperage (affordable senior housing), Rising Cedar (affordable housing and services for people with persistent mental illness), and The Bessemer (market-rate housing) alongside commercial spaces The Verna and Focus Arts on the 3.5 acre site.
Stay Tuned!
We will keep you posted on the project as it is constructed. In the meantime, if you want to join the Seward Commons community, you can contact us about renting commercial space or look for openings at our residential buildings:
