It’s been a busy season here at Redesign. Our Property Management team has been hard at work maintaining our buildings, supporting our tenants, and helping local entrepreneurs find spaces where their businesses can grow and contribute to the neighborhood.
If we haven’t met yet, we’re Alan and Lawrence, the Property Management team here at Redesign. Redesign manages and co-owns nine commercial buildings across Greater Longfellow. These buildings are home to more than 40 local businesses and nonprofits who play a vital role in keeping our commercial corridors active and grounded in community.
In this quarter's newsletter, we’re highlighting several leasing, rental, and collaboration opportunities. From retail to office to flex and restaurant spaces, we are excited to find the next local businesses that can come in, take root, and add to the vibrancy of our neighborhood. If you’re looking for a new location for your business (or know someone who is!) please reach out. We’d be glad to talk.
With appreciation,
Alan Petroski & Lawrence Erskin

Small Business Highlight: Redesign Tenant
MoonStone MPLS
"Redesign has been really supportive. They helped with funding for painting and for our garden which really helped my startup budget. And they’ve been really responsive when issues came up in the space. I really appreciate that they’re looking at the structural causes and solutions instead of just putting on a Band-Aid."
MoonStone MPLS is a queer-owned, community-oriented, and curiosity-driven shop offering natural gems, magical gifts, and handmade creations by local artists. With roots in the Longfellow neighborhood and a deep commitment to curiosity, connection, and inclusivity, MoonStone is a welcoming space for neighbors to explore, learn, and feel at home.
Wadaag Commons, a new affordable housing complex for families opens in the Seward neighborhood
Mshale
"Eligible families for the units are those that earn 30% of the area median income, and with only 39 units, there is still a large unmet need according to Noor because 'we have 2,000 people on the wait list.'"
Across the country, nonprofit organizations are navigating a difficult moment. Resources are shrinking, needs are growing, and uncertainty is becoming the norm. Redesign is no exception.
As a Community Development Corporation, the real estate market directly impacts our work. And when our tenants and partners face challenges, we feel them too. Despite these pressures, we continue to show up every day for our neighbors, small businesses, and community. But to keep doing this vital work, we need your help.
Over the past year, we’ve worked hard to adapt by reducing costs, restructuring programs, and finding new ways to sustain our mission. Still, we’ve had to make painful decisions, including eliminating several senior positions. These changes were not a reflection of performance, but a necessary step to ensure Redesign’s long-term sustainability and to preserve our most essential community services.
These moments are never easy. We’ve lost brilliant, compassionate colleagues who helped shape Redesign into the organization it is today. But we are making these choices now to protect the future and ensure Redesign remains strong, responsive, and deeply rooted in this community for generations to come.
If you believe in a future where small businesses can thrive, where affordable spaces remain within reach, and where community voice leads development, we invite you to stand with us. Your support right now will help us stabilize through this transition and continue providing the critical programs that make our neighborhoods stronger.
Together, we’ve weathered challenges before. Together, we can build what comes next. Thank you for being part of this work.
